Yup, that was totally that]!

I wound up seeing more of her, and I started to notice that the stuff she was setting for herself was really not her wants, but someone else's. When she started to realize that and we talked more, I think she figured out there was something more she wanted from me.

And I was...kinda dumb and didn't think that was possible until much later, when I realize the feelings I had for Amity were just dormant until I realized I might have a chance.

[ Kenma goes quiet for a little bit, listening to Luz while she games. That's not a bad thing either, it's easier for him if someone else is talking. His head can bob along with a few agreeing sounds, one hand settling over stringbean to offer careful pats.

Do palismans like pats? He's not sure... ]

Mmmh... sounds like you two were... really close by the time you got together, right?

[ Not that he has anywhere to go from that, just acknowledging. He lets silence take over for a little bit, giving Luz an opportunity to bring anything up. or just a chance to settle down into games for a bit while they both recover. ]

[When you got Luz going, it was honestly hard for her to stop! With the game on and Luz finally getting comfortable, she was finding it easier to just let her mind wander a bit.

And yes, they do. Also tummy rubs].

The hardest part was getting us to admit it to each other, honestly. We were so awkward and dumb, the house demon wound up nudging Amity to the house, having ME make a fool of myself, and so finally I got the courage to go up to her and admit that I wanted her in my life for however long I'd be in the Isles, and so I formally asked to go out with her.

It was pretty cute, if I do say so myself.

[ Honestly, that worked out pretty well for him. The less he had to talk the better, unless it was about the game. His hands are kept busy with Stringbean, patting, brushing, even giving belly rubs if they roll over to prompt him! How curious!

But he is listening, head bobbing along as she explains, faintly smiling or glancing over. ]

It sounds cute... I'm glad it worked out, though...

What's a house demon?

[Aw so cute! Stringbean is enjoying the attention, making small hissing sounds and curling around Kenma's palm. Luz, of course, is still intent on getting items to create some different things for her character].

Oh sure! We had a few bumps, but now we're pretty devoted to each other! Kinda reminds me of how I met Aubrey initially, now that I think about it.

[Hissss].

A demon that guards the house, what else?

[ Scritch scritch scritch. ]

Right... Of course.

[ Blink, sharp eyes peeer over. ]

Just because it wants to or?...

Oh, they want to. Once a house demon gets to know the people inside, they get very attached.


And it might be weird, but it's also kind of endearing.

Right... Different kind of demon I guess?

They're always the bad guy or enemy in games where I'm from.

[ Maybe that's just a non-magic human trope. ]

Most definitely, but Hooty is...very unique.

In my fantasy games, yes, but in the Isles? They're just as different as humans, some good, some bad.

[She's played them too. There were some similarities but also quite a few things humans didn't even know about].

Hooty? [ Scritch, scritch, brush. ] Were they... a big owl? Or was the name not related.

[ He gets the sense sometimes things ARE as simple as they seem. ]

Oh, he doesn't.

Hooty is the house demon my mentor Eda lives with. And...I actually still can't accurately explain who or WHAT he is. But he did help bring me and my girlfriend together and is really sweet mostly!

When he isn't creepy, of course.

Right... Some kind of, strange magical creature? How powerful are house demons?

[ He's slowly forming a picture here, though it still seems a bit wild. ]

Ah, there's a tough challenge ahead... Watch out for that.

Apparently powerful enough to get your girlfriend and bring her to our basement.

[And Amity hadn't even BEEN Luz's girlfriend until Hooty intervened so...there was that strange fact, that they were a couple largely thanks to Hooty].

But how powerful Hooty is will always be a mystery.

I've learned to take the good and the bad with him.

I'm still not used to all that magic stuff. It sounds like a really interesting place.

[ Fantastical is probably the word. He leans back at last, hand now casually resting over stringbean while warm frame leans towards Luz, watching her play-

Slowly, silence falls again. And Kenma's happy to watch her play until she's chilled out and a bit more unwound after a stressful week or two. ]

It's always rough for people when they're adjusting to coming from a world that isn't like that. The Boiling Isles blew my mind when I first arrived, and a little afterward too, if I'm honest about it.

[String bean was kind of wrapping herself around Kenma, and seemed to be watching the two of them with interest. It was Luz, though, that interrupted the silence after a bit].

Thank, Kenma. I feel a little more in control now than I did a few days ago, if that makes sense.

[ His movements slow and almost stop the more Stringbean wraps around him, a bit more careful with the not-snake coiling his arms and sides a bit. Just a hint of a smile down.

His eyes peek, lifting a brow and tilting to match Stringbean's gaze as if asking a question... and then it follows over to Luz. ]

Yeah... It makes sense to me.

I'm glad to hear... I was worried about you for a while.

[Stringbean knows what she likes, and right now it was happily wrapping around the cat boy, and purring lightly now. She does look over at the boy, then yawns and goes back to snoozing].

I thought it might.

I'm not surprised. It was pretty clear that I wasn't myself then.

[ Blink blink. Snug as a noddle can be, it seems! This is fine, he's fairly warm too. Since he's not going anywhere anytime soon, he just leans to give Luz a gentle shoulder bump. ]

Yeah. The normal you is way more fun.

[ And his gaze drifts back to the game she's playing, seeing how far she's gotten. ]

Sidenote: been playing #BLUD, great game! Luz would love it!

I don't know if I'd ever call any version of me "normal" but I definitely prefer that to possessed!

[She's already at the third level: when Luz plays a game, she is all in].

He's content with being coiled, this is fine. Lazy afternoon moods. It's kindof nice after everything that's happened. ]

Though in this place, I think we might be reaching a bit of a lull. It probably won't kick in all crazy for, like, another week.

[ While Kenma likes interesting things, he'd generally prefer those things not be life threatening all the time! ]

I hope so... It'd be nice to relax for a bit again.
