Begonia is pretty smart though. The holograms are pretty cat like, it's like there's a another one in the house.

yup, it uses some of the fire crystals on this world and activates them to destroy anything within it.

BB used the concept after having knowledge that dragons need to eat crystals from this island to use magic or blow fire/ice/etc.

Some, not too many; BB doesn't want to upset the balance of anything. why do you ask? do you know something about them?

But I think we could use them as a power source for other things too, maybe.
I spoke to someone that used stones to power magic.

They are very powerful otherwise, high energy levels... They are kind of like the Photonic Crystals on my realm but with different purposes and abilities... Outside of that, nothing else yet... She is still observing them. Wondering if they change depending on season? It seems they gather energy from the world around it.

When we put Vaeros to sleep, we had to charge up the crystals with magical energy, and people with elemental powers from the potions could do that.

I wonder how they tie together. Or if you can use them in reverse.

Yeah literally that, so BB normally would. She has to ready it and prepare the spell,and then BB would have to go through a lot of energy to use it - here... It isn't as hard. BB still has to prepare but she can simple pull mana from the world around her and use that to use her Noble Phantasm!
