Oh Keeeeeeeenma~?

[Kel sounds absolutely happy and full of life. He is actually an emotional mess, he had a bad fight with Sunny and the confirmation of a few bad things he expected, so... he's making it everyone else's problem. Being overly cheerful and more active than usual.

Poor Basil had to see him at three in the morning stress baking because 'I remembered something Hero did and I wanted to try it out'. Just normal Kel randomness. But, yes, right now he's keeping himself busy. Sorry, King of the Arcade.]

I convinced a friend to come over with me at the arcade. The super-duper cool Basil! I still have my house full of cake attempts, I was thinking of bringing one over if you're there too! What about this bad boy?

[The roll has some little cracks but it's one of his better results so far, the only good one went to Sunny's birthday. Poor Basil had to eat so many of those.]

Oh, and, like- maybe we could try to beat one of those high scores? Together? Also, I do have a very important question, do you have Dance Dance Revolution? [There are no characters in that one, right? Is it safe to mention it?] I feel like stomping around a bit.

Mmmh? [ Oh, someone sounds excited! This is fine. ] Oh... that looks tasty.

Basil's your housemate, right? The name's familiar. But sure... I'll see you both uhhh. Today? Or were you thinking later?

[ A faint pause, the distant sound of arcade machines can be heard in the background. ]

Yeah, on the main floor? I'm not very good at it, but you can try. I'll probably stick to the less... tiring games.

It's not perfect in looks, but things don't have to be perfect to taste good!

[He sounds incredibly excited.]

Yep! That's him! Our local and lovely flower boy! He is a treasure, I guarantee you that- and yeah! I'd love to come over, even now!

[He can be heard chuckling. Good, he needs ways to get rid of his extra energies.]

Sounds fantastic! Maybe you and Basil can sit nearby and play another game as I smash the DDR record? I got some strong and fast legs, eheh.

Anything else I should bring over? Leaving home right now!

If it looked too nice I'd feel bad eating it, anyway. But it's cute, still.

I'll go wait for you at the arcade then.

[ Streeeetch, oough, time to get up and actually do things. ]

I think we're good. I've got some snacks there. See you in a bit.

Whaaaat? Nice stuff tastes better- probably. many of those fancy decorated cakes actually taste like cardboard and I think fondant is just revolting but stoll-

[He will still bring cake, drinks and the cookies he baked at tree in the morning, he hopes you like chocolate chips man.

And may poor Basil rest in pieces, being dragged across the city by an unusually hyper Kel who only stopped at a shop to buy some apples because why not-]

You're going to love Kenma, he's super cool! [A grin in his blonde housemate's direction before opening the door to the arcade.] Welcome to heaven! At least, my idea of heaven. Do you know he even has Super Blario?

( It feels a lot to be introduced to so many new people... Kel's someone who tends to socialize quite a bit, and that resulted in a number of people visiting. On another hand, Basil's far more introverted. For a long while, it just felt like himself, his Grandma, and Polly. But, it's also nice... It's been so long since he's been able to make new friends. )

Ah, thank you inviting me to come along with you guys... ( An arcade is always a bit loud, and there's so many different games to choose from. Basil really is content to just sort of watch. ) ... I remember watching both you and Sunny playing that. Do they really have games that are home here, too?

[ Somewhere, deeper in the arcade, Kenma's waiting.

The main floor is the noisiest. It's where all the generic carnival-like games and physical things are, lots of modern stuff. But towards the back there's some classics. Upstairs? That's where all the really retro arcade consoles are!

Tallish, black and blonde hair and a cozy looking sweater. Sharp features peek up when he spots the two approaching, giving them both an awkward nod. ]

[Kel is bouncing, which is just perfect considering he's carrying cakes and other stuff. He grins, leans slightly against Basil and offers him the slightest shoulder bump. As if Kel is leaving the only friend from home who still tolerates him behind, ahah!]

As if I wouldn't want my besties around, Basil. And, yeah, I- we actually already had a talk about it? I think? [Was it Kenma? Yes, it probably was.] Many worlds have many similarities and turns out videogames are some of those. Who even knew Tonic The 'chidna was to exist in so many different places... yet here we are. Feels a bit nostalgic, huh? And I think this time I'd like to see you play instead.

[but, here! Kenma! He smiles brightly in his direction, waving.]

Buddy! thank you for having us!

Kenma, this is Basil, my super awesome housemate! He's the best, you'll love him! Basil? This is Kenma, videogame enthusiast and also very cool guy. Are we ready to have fun? Because I sure am!

Man, I even skipped my daily cardio because I wanted to melt my brain after some pixels today.

( Kel has always been so forward and optimistic when it comes to others. It's a trait that Basil both envies and admires. It's something that he's found comforting and warm -- enough for Basil to feel encouraged enough to step out of his comfort zone and meet someone new. So far, most of the people he's met have been because he's run into them, or they've wanted to help him in some way.

This is nostalgic, Basil thinks. It reminds him of when Aubrey introduced Basil to Kel and the others... )

Ah... I-I don't know about all that, but... ( Kel is definitely exaggerating. He ducks his head a bit, face heating up. ) It's nice to meet you, Kenma... Kel told me a lot about you.

[ IT's OKAY!

It turns out Kenma is, quite clearly, AS awkward and shy around new people as Basil is. Maybe more? He gives a quiet nod to the new face, and those usually intense sharp features barely manage a smile back as he lifts a hand. ]

Nice to meet you... Too.

[ Softspoken, quiet, he's bad at holding eye contact and frequently glances away, but there's a sense of friendliness about it when he can push past the anxiety. Having Kel around helps a bit, and being in the arcade. ]

Did you guys... want to play something?

[It's okay! Kel is in his super-loud era and by the gods he'll not be stopped by two introverts being themselves, not today. He places everything down on the first proper spot he finds, raising both hands up.]

We're here to play games and make friends! And eat. Man, I brought so much food, you gotta test my cakes and all. This is bro stuff in the purest form, right? AND maybe later we can also go... outside? I got a ball as well and we could go play some games!

[A wink before clapping his hands together and creating a water ball mid air, bouncing it a couple of times on his knees and letting it just dissipate back into the armosphere- making sure to drive the remaining humidity away from the machines.]

I dunno, I just- I love spending time with friends. I'm thrilled! Any suggestion, mister Host of the Arcade? Any preference, Basil? I'm so ready!

( It's true, Kel really outdid himself when it came to setting things up for this outing... Considering that he knew the both of them, Basil had wanted to leave it up to Kel. )

Well... I've always been happy to just watch everyone play before. If Kenma has any games that he likes, then we can go with that.

( But, he's willing to give things a go if either of them want them too. Basil would... probably be more content with games that aren't super competitive. )

Ah?

[ Sorry wait did he always have the ability to do that? Is it just Kenma that's caught a bit off guard by the sudden WATER POWERS? He blinks between the two. Slowly forming thoughts.

Despite his anxious introverted nature, Kenma is surprisingly good at reading people. Between Kel's energy and Basil's quieter tagging along, he can think of a few games. Perhaps thankfully, most games that allow up to three players aren't super competitive anyway. ]

Mmh, maybe. We could try Glove [ It's Gauntlet in copyright free form. ]... or Teenage Mutant Ninja Tortoises?

[ Each one's accompanied by a glance and point towards the machine. One's a co-operative hack and slash arcade action rpg. the other a side scrolling co-op beat em up. ]
